Meet the makers

Petra

constantly in search of the right backdrop, and while lugging heavy photographic surfaces to different shooting locations, the idea of developing lighter surfaces that imitate rusted iron, karst stone, crumbling facades or pristine concrete was born. After seeing some of Dejan’s painting work (a basement door that looked exactly like a patinated wagon door from 1890), we got talking and came up with the idea of making unique surfaces and backdrops. He has been making surfaces and backdrops since 2014. So far, we have sold most of them to Slovenian photographers and food bloggers.

Dejan

a decorator by profession and has been studying both the novelties in the paint industry and the secrets of old decorating techniques for over two decades. His passion is creating unique artistic walls and he has left his mark on many classic and contemporary interiors. Under his hands, modern acrylic or polyurethane materials are combined with lime and natural oxide powders. His unique and innovative work comes to life on a variety of surfaces. In addition to MDF boards and canvas, his creativity often adorns various discarded objects.

He spends a lot of time researching materials and coatings to make the surfaces or backdrops durable and resistant to the various objects and liquids they are exposed to.  His wife Jasna is often involved in his creative work as his secretary, assistant, purchase manager and more, as are his three playful daughters.

Nina & Manca

in 2021, the team was joined by Nina Koželj and Manca Kemperl from VULGARISWOOD.

With her thoroughness and unfailing artistic eye, Nina creates unique wooden surfaces from wood that can be found everywhere. She is also the artisan behind the handmade ceramic tiles used as the basis for unique vinyl backdrops.

Manca Kemperl is an experienced woodworker who makes sure that all MDF boards are cut out correctly. She also helps with the unique wooden boards and assists us with all our carpentry questions, which we usually have in abundance.
